Google has many mechanisms and tools on their own end to monitor and flag suspicious activity. If a webmaster or blogger clicks their own ads Google can tell almost 99%, if not 100% of the time.

But how? Well, it is not released to the publick, but if you know a little about computers, you can probably come to a few conclusions. Here is one of my theories. If you log into your AdSense control panel, or any one of Google’s services, Google AdSense has your IP address. When an ad is clicked, it records your IP address, if those two numbers match, a fraudulent click probably happened.

When a fraudulent click happens, your income will most likely be adjusted to reflect that bad click.

Bottom line? Do NOT click your own ads, not even to “test” if they are working, they are. It is not worth it and you can be banned from the program forever. Google is very smart when it comes to storing information, so odds are they know many details about the user when an ad of theirs is clicked.

Not only is it against ToS, but it is a form of stealing, this is called click fraud.
